Tad-cu’s Bobble Hat
Dorry Spikes
A young boy climbs a hill with his granddad, but when they get to the top it begins to snow. They quickly descend and grandad lends the boy his bobble hat which becomes lost on the hill and buried in snow. Doyle hints at the grandad’s bad health and Spikes’ illustrations softly confirm his passing. Once the snow disappears the boy is determined to find his beloved grandad’s hat. This is Malachy Doyle’s 100th book and is certainly one to shout about. Tad-cu’s Bobble Hat is a gentle tale about the unique bond between grandparent and grandchild, love, grief and the power of memories. A sensitively written book accompanied with illustrations of the beautiful Welsh countryside.
